  •  Malcolm X was not a symbol of liberalism (0+ / 0-)

    He was anti-liberal, as his rhethoric shows. I do not consider him a political model and have serious objections to those who do; his confrontational style, however, could be emulated a bit more. I don't see how many of Malcolm X's positions can be reconciled with a pluralistic, classless society, which has been the aim of liberalism for the past 200 or more years. And, by the way, I earned my liberal bona fides at the Pettus Bridge in 1965 and on Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Aug. 1968.
