Ron Luce IS specifically having participants explicitly "enlist" (not in the joining the U.S. military sense- but in terms of joining "god's army"- which, in turn, should not be mistaken for common misconceptions about 'the army of god' which in turn also gets commonly mistaken for some kind of 'group'.)

Wahabbists/Salfists/Al Qaeda have the concept of "Jihad", which, on one hand, means that you should go out and blow up skyscrapers.

On the other hand, if you talk to an apologist for Islamic theocracy, you are sometimes told that "Jihad" means "an internal struggle" or a "spiritual battle".

There is not going to be some magical "pendulum swing."
