on this very blog that he is weak because he gets a "deer in the headlights" look that wouldn't play well on TV.

I don't agree because Bush often gets away with a "rambling idiot" look every time he speaks and people still voted for him.

    •  it's this thing where it seems like (0+ / 0-)

he's talking to you behind 4 ft of glass. It happens in person, too. He's very smart and charming, but yet, there seems to be a distance between himself and people.

      •  He's great looking, but he doesn't have any (0+ / 0-)

ability in the charisma arena, IMHO.  His speaking voice tends to be a bit boring, instead of inspiring, just by virtue of his cadence, not his words.  He's obviously intelligent and articulate and has many ideas that I think are totally right on, but he's just not inspiritational and I think we Americans need to be inspired after all these years of death and destruction with Rethugs in total power.

kind of how I feel about Al Gore.

          •  That's how I felt about Al Gore before I saw (2+ / 0-)

his trailer on AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.  Al Gore is not the man he used to be.  I think he's risen from the flames of a stolen election like a phoenix - more powerful, more charismatic and more important than before.  Go see the movie and then let's talk!  I'm seeing it this weekend with three family members and I can't wait!

            •  I'll keep an open mind (0+ / 0-)

on Al Gore. The one I am familiar with came across as smart but boring. I understand he brings more passion to his public speaking these days and that is a good change.

My gut wants somebody that is naturally, automatically, salesman minus the sleaze- charismatic but that person doesn't appear to exist at this time in terms of qualifications for the job.

The current Governor of Montana is my sleeper for 2012. He's smart, plain spoken and immediately likable.

              •  he could swing some Western states (0+ / 0-)

I like that thought. Montana's Governor Schweitzer could bring some western votes to our side and possibly make Arizona and Nevada competitive (which are worth more than the 3 electoral votes of Montana).
