by your comment, it would seem that at least in the private sector its just the opposite. The big fish are going to jail. Skilling and Lay are not the only ones, Ebbers from Worldcom got 25 years, the 80 year old head of Aldelphia got 15 and his son got 20.

Skilling and Lay are both going to draw long sentences here. Baring a pardon at the end of W's term, they will spend a long and well deserved time in jail.

the point of clammy c's diary was that lots of people, inside and out of Enron, suffered due to the actions of the superiors , that people lower on the ladder suffered due to the actions of the higher ups.

Yes, Skilling and Lay have been convicted but the appeals have not started and the pardons have not come down.  The everyday worker will pay for this, just like the Lindy Englunds in the service.  They were used and then tossed aside while the rich/powerful rarely, if ever pay.

Very few big fish go to jail - in my opinion - and those who do, I would bet, if placed in a comparative sentencing matrix,  don't serve that much time compared to the damage they create.

But hey, I am greatful for the verdict and it gives me hope that our system can still work.
