  •  Not just the middle class (0+ / 0-)

How about giving the working class a tax break, and increasing taxes on the wealthiest 5%, sure grover norquist will squeal, but it is the right thing to do, morally and economically.

If there is one thing blair has got right, it is that he has made a fair amount of effort to stop the gap between the rich and the poor from rising. There is natural tendency for it to do so, so his best efforts have only managed to stabilise the gap.

Reform of the US tax structure to make it more progressive, and federal funding of US schools (instead of from local property taxes) would go along way to making the US of A a better place.

    •  Bush would veto any tax hikes for rich (0+ / 0-)

I don't see that happening if the dems win congress because bush would be there to veto it.

A lot of dinos wouldn't vote for a tax hike anyway.

I can't see someone like ben nelson or joe lieberman voting for a tax hike.

      •  They don't need to (0+ / 0-)

Lots of tax cuts were temporary.

If they did nothing, lots of tax $$ would pop back into existence.
