  •  You still miss the point (0+ / 0-)

You are playing right into Bush's hands.
It is a WAR.  Bad enough, yes.  The American people have the guts to withstand a justified war of true defense.
What has the American people pissed off is that after the relatively short, cheap and "successful" wars of Daddy Bush and Bill Clinton under the tried and true Powell Doctrine we were expecting just another little war.
BUSH MISLED.  He led us to expect short cheap victory.  He misled the reason for invading.  He abandoned the Powell doctrine and handed our asses to the war profiteers.
This war has been a study of misleading and incompetence since it's inception.
Beleive it or not, it is not so much the carnage as the over-all un-expected, un-planned for cost in American lives and treasure.
Stop going on about the killing.  Most Americans, unless directly affected, do not give a shit about that.  We are a violent culture.  There are more than 2000 people killed in car accidents per day.  One of the right's main arguments is that so many more were killed in wars past.  The paltry numbers of American casualties hardly makes a blip on American cultural radar.

    •  it's not his incompetence (1+ / 0-)

he's doing quite well, actually, in achieving his goals of taking us back to the mckinley era.

incompetence is, and will be in the next elections, the republican defense for this malice, as they abandon him to move their base even further to the right.

but you are right.  it is the lies.  and, in the end, it is the goals, if they ever all get broadcast before they are actually achieved.

    •  I honestly think Bush and co. expected (1+ / 0-)

a short war themselves, and were knocked off their feet with suprise when it wasn't.  The looting remember was just some cooped up people letting off a little steam.  When the looting ended it was suposed to be all over.

But when the small looting ended, the big looting started.  That's the looting of the Iraqis and of the American people by our very own government.

The looting of the American people is now all planned out and Bushie knows how long that will go on.  Forever.
