in films not too many years ago(by my standards) say the first Pink Panther movie(I cringed to watch parts of it) or the early Bond films. Times have changed.

It's funny to watch the progression of Hawkeye...he goes from (practically) a sexual predator, to a sensitive '90's guy.  In 1950.  :-P

        was outrageous.  "Spearchucker Jones", etc.

I never liked the TV series.

Sorry, I know that makes me a bad liberal :-)

(Both played Maj Burns) nearly got into a fistfight on the Tonight show about the relative value of the Film versus the TV show. A funny bit of trivia, both Sutherland and Gould went to the producer and complained that Altmann was "ruining" their careers about midway through filming the movie.

"spearchucker" was snark, i don't know whether the original author otto apel, or director robert altman, put it in, but i am quite sure it was meant to be ironic.  a character deliberately calling himself a politically incorrect name.  like the blog "uppity negro" by the late great aaron hawkins.

i would be incredibly surprised if robert altman let a racist note like that pass un-supervised.  altman is a very careful director.

skippy the bush kangaroo, now with 30% more snark!
