  •  This has been a major frustration (8+ / 0-)

of mine. GOP humor, heckling, "jokes," and information is so pedestrian, uninformed, and LCD (lowest common denominator).

When we were in school -- at least the good ones, over the past couple decades -- our finest teachers and mentors told us to IGNORE that shit, to walk away, that truth would out. I think what shocks me the most is discovering that not only did the village idiots and school bullies survive the turned backs, they went out and reproduced themselves wildly!

I am beginning to believe that Democrats need to:

    1. Learn to hurl poo with the best of them, smiling (not that angry earnest face).
    1. Use every opportunity to ridicule the GOP. For instance, as soon as we saw Bush getting audio feed during the debate, we should have constantly and unmercifully called him the Hunchback of Notre GOP. Gore didn't invent the internet, but Bush sure as hell invented the transparent cheat. We should have done more with it, we should have used it ad nauseum (like the GOP would have), and we should STILL be bringing it up.

    •  No, the best strategy is to take them on (4+ / 0-)

and bite them where they're weakest.  They expect us to take the high ground, and look to some point of compromise.  A bully is fundamentally a coward, our best defense is a tough offense.  Confront them with a simple "That's bullshit, and you know it, because [insert painful fact here], and furthermore, you have not a whit of evidence to support your position.  Siddown bozo, you're out of your league in the Reality-Based Universe"

People are usually more convinced by reasons they discovered themselves than by those found by others.

    •  Exactly (0+ / 0-)

That's the direction we should take.  Ignore their whining and screeching and just keep the ridicule alive.

The best part of it is that we have the power of the truth on our side.  Combine that WITH the power of ridicule, imagine the power!

Scary, fear based attack ads be damned, let's see some ridicule and humor in our ads!

I think SHAME although close to riduclue is still our best bet.

The quickest way to shame them is to bring JESUS into it.

You mean JESUS would have dropped bombs on them etc? You mean JESUS would have cut college loans to give tax breaks to millionares?

Brings out the hypocrisy lickety split.
