I finally saw the actual clip of Senator Bill Frist questioning Richard Clarke's testimony to the 9/11 Commission. I was struck by this bold misstatement, Frist claims Clarke said:

The administration actively sought to address the threat posed by al Qaeda during its first 7 months in office

This is what Clarke actually said:

The administration actively sought to address the threat posed by al Qaeda during its first 11 months in office

Did Frist deliberately change the 7 to 11?

The difference between 7 months (pre 9/11) and 11 months (post 9/11) is major. I suspect Clarke deliberately inserted the words 11 months so he could make the claim without lying. Yes, during the 11 month period the Bush administration did address the threat posed by al Qaeda, they started after 9/11.

If I's a mole in the ground I'd root that mountain down...

    •  Maybe Frist meant dog-months (none)
      •  You mean (none)
        kitten-months?  Ouch, okay, I'll stop.
        •  What's Up? (none)
I have heard several mentions about cats and cat killing in reference to Frist.  What's that about?  I must have missed something earlier.

I believe prior to running for the Senate, Frist volunteered information in his autobiography that, as a medical student, he went to the local animal shelter, adopted kitties and then performed experiments on them.

After the animal shelters wised up, he started taking cats off the street, all in the name of science.

He is a medical genius and we shouldn't begrude Senator Cat Mengle's atrocities.

Again, he PROUDLY VOLUNTEERED that information, kind of like during the 1990 Texas Gubernatorial race when Clayton Williams told reporters that he didn't pay taxes in 1987.

Frist has told many chuckling stories about his practice in medical school of "adopting" strays at the pound and taking them back to his dorm room to practice dissection.

I first heard this last summer when that Cat Serial Killer was on the loose out west-- Molly Ivins or Maureen Dowd or somebody wrote a column "profiling" Frist for the perp...
