    The reviewer mentions how he considers himself an "old school" Republican.  It's interesting how today's progressives have a lot in common with Dwight D. Eisenhower and Teddy Roosevelt, both Republicans, as well as with FDR and JFK, both Democrats.

      Teddy R. was one of the most prominent. The Progressives left the GOP when Taft won the nomination in 1912 and former President T. Roosevelt ran third party (Bull Moose/Progressive) and beat Taft, but split the GOP and gave Wilson the Presidency.
