  •  FWIW... (0+ / 0-)
    ...I'm voting for Brown.  For some reason, I always feel better when he's involved somewhere in CA politics. Plus, Delgadillo is a closet wingnut...I'm convinced of that.

    I just don't feel strongly enough about it to put it in the diary.

    •  Jerry's not who he used to be; he even admits (0+ / 0-)

      that Mayor Jerry is very different than the "pre-Mayor" Jerry; he used to be pretty progressive, but once he got elected he's become a corporate whore. His old pal Jacques? a leech and a big-time lech.
      Since he's been Mayor of Oakland, he's brought us:
      • Police attack on peaceful protestors and longshoreworkers at the Port of Oakland, 4/7/03 (2 years after he stood, at the Port, in support of those same longshoreworkers, part of his mayoral campaign);
      • Instead of admitting their mistake, which has cost the city millions in lawsuits from the injured victims (some were hurt so severely they can't work any more), he said, "That's what happens when you don't get out the way!"
      • Military academy, to train poor youth of Oakland to feed the war machine;
      • WAL-MART! There were demos against the store, demos against the non-union workers who built it, but Jerry welcomed the store with open arms;
      • Pushed through a "strong mayor" resolution which gave him more power, but he never even shows up at City Council meetings;
      • His big plan was to get 10,000 more residents in the downtown area, which never happened;
      I could go on but I'm too tired and sad about his change of attitude.
      Jerry's gotten wierd, and I think he still wants to run for President. I fear for the results, when most Californians expect progressive Jerry, and I think that guy's gone.
      Problem with Delgadillo is he supports the death penalty.
      I think I'll skip that particular race on Tuesday!
