  •  Suicide Rates in Iraq Remain Unreported (1+ / 0-)

Suicide rates are virtually unreported by the U.S. military - even in internal documents.  In the UK they have their version of PBS' Frontline entitled "Panorama," and they had a brilliant piece a while back on the rate of suicide among American soldiers.  The U.S. military does not release figures to the public, but the program indicated that "friendly fire" was in fact used as the explanation even in suicide cases.  Of course this would explain why there are so many friendly-fire cases where details are never disclosed.  That program aired only once and is now impossible to find.  I am not going to get all conspiracy-theory here, but how many of us contemplated suicide in our late teens and early twenties?  Now think if you were in Iraq and facing the same things that the troops are facing?  I would not dismiss the idea, I'm ashamed to say.
