      Beware of unintended consequences with a major change like that. I shudder to think of a nationwide recount, in a close election. But the number one reason to keep the Electoral College is people like Ross Perot. He can rack up a lot of votes and not get a single EC vote. Single issue candidates can't affect the outcome.

      In a popular vote, would you require a Majority? Or a Plurality? Would there be a runoff if no one got 50% +1? What happens is there is vote count cheating in one part of the country? Do you hold another election?
