... It would be damn near impossible to gerrymander MA into GOP majority status, dude.

    Here's the town-by-town results.

The 42 towns where Bush won are by and large not contiguous, not demographically similar (compare Boxford and Pepperell, for instance), and none of these towns had "blowout" margins, unlike Provincetown or Cambridge.

This is true in most of the so-called blue states; the rural areas just aren't as "red" as the rural areas out in the square states.

The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

    •  you underestimate how creative they are (0+ / 0-)

at gerrymandering. If necessary, they just rewrite the laws and create districts that aren't contiguous - they've done it in the past, they'll do it in the future. THat's why they call it "gerrymander." And you didn't even read my post, did you? The whole point was, that in my "red" state which went blue against all the sneering expectations of far too many Kossacks, the whole damn rural regions were blue, it was the urban/suburban bits full of expat Massholes and Vermonters who want to live in NH and pay  no taxes but still work in Killington or Boston, which went deep red.

Remember, all the "blue states" fell for both Nixon and Raygun Ronnie. Repeatedly.
