They just watch a lot of TV.

A pessimist sees a glass half empty. I see a paper cup with holes punched in it.

George W. Bush is a homicidal dictator who is addicted to weapons of tax deductions.

The FISA law was written in 1978. We're having this discussion in 2006. It's a different world. And FISA is still an important tool. It's an important tool. And we still use that tool. But also...and we...look, I said, look, is it possible to conduct this program under the old law? And people said, it doesn't work in order to be able to do the job we expect us to do.

This is blatantly misleading, and far surpasses any finger pointing about the nuances of sexual relations in one's private life.

FISA was specifically amended by the USA Patriot Act in late October (24th), 2001 to accomodate for the "war on terror" which many argued was ushered in by the September 11, 2001 attacks, and by the Authorization to Use Military Force Resolution passed a few days later on September 14, over a month before the Patriot Act, incorporating and updating FISA, was passed.

The above statement in block quotes is an outrageous and blatant mischaracterization, and mainpulation of the issue, that ought to be front page and headline news, regardless of when in the last few months it was said.

Also, Harry Truman said, most aptly with respect to this administration., "Secrecy, and a free, democratic government don't mix."

I think it is critical to emphasize that this Congress is far right wing. Democrats are never going to win every seat.  the key is have the majority, and have the representatives on the other side be moderates.  and certainly if not in the majority (as now) not have the other side be predominantly represented by far right wing extremists.

that is a large part of the problem with the current Congress. Much of what this current administration has done, constitutionally, has appalled many republicans, but Congress is far right wing, and does little.

But what about the democrats in Congress? That they are in the minoirty is no excuse for not standing up to blatance violations of the Constitutions most basic provisions.
