  •  the 'voting papers' brouha is a red herring (14+ / 0-)

tapping into the xenophobia regarding immigration. I am not an American citizen (I refuse to renounce my birth allegiance to being British) I have lived here for forty years, own property, pay taxes, my husband, children and grandchildren are all American citizens with voting rights. There is nothing in the law that prevents me from helping any candidate running for office or within the parameters of the law donating funds and or time. I can vote with my voice and my opinions. I am free to raise my voice. I do not need to live in the shadows. Being a permanent resident does not make one either illegal or second class. It is time we learned how to frame our positions. The reason the papers in CA-50 jumped so heavily onto this perhaps injudicious response by Ms. Busby is proof of their desperate need to hold on to this seat. There is no earthly reason for the rest of us to help them. I, in this case, believe that even a loss will be a win. A win would be a huge bonus but for heaven's sake don't start crying the blues if once again the Repubs win with dirty tactics. Politics is war and it ain't pretty.
