Republicans take something a democrat says out of context, repeat it on their numerous propaganda shows, make it sound absolutley horrible, and what do we do? Do we ask the person what they really meant, clarify the story, and get mad at the people perpetrating the smear?  Hell, No. We get mad at the victim of the smear for saying something that can be quoted out of context. The reality is that republicans are REALLY GOOD at twisting words, and there is no such thing as a candidate who can go through an entire campaign and not say something that could be twisted into something negative.

When I was in junior high, there was this girl who hassled me. I had been taught "girls don't fight", so I never defended myself. I just went crying to the teachers, which is what my parents, who were well-meaning but misguided, told me to do. At some point I figured out that the only way to stop the harassment was to fight back, so I did.  And I got in trouble from the teachers. But she stopped harassing me. That taught me a lesson. Sometimes you have to fight. You're going to take heat if you do it, because there are a lot of people who think that fighting back is wrong. But you have to fight back against bullies, or they are going to keep harassing you. The republicans are bullies, and until we start fighting back and taking the heat, we will continue to be victims of this kind of attack.
