About as good as shot as Busby had. If the RNCC is not willing to invest heavily in this race, Pombo could lose.

though I will add that CA-11 is in no way the same kind of wingnut area as CA-50. It's a different shade of red, with a combination of many different "types" of republican. It's a really weird district, IMO -- I'm still never sure how to characterize it, and I grew up there and still live very close.

Pombo could quite easily lose, and will certainly have to fight. But a lot will depend on context over the next few months.

...with hopes of helping a little.

I'm very interested to see if/how Pombo "softens" his image/actions over the next few months.  If he doesn't, he's vulnerable for being who he is.  If he does, he's vulnerable for being an opportunist/flip-flopper.  Fodder for criticism, either way.

I've got extensive files, dating back to when he first ran in 1992.  Will be happy to document any flip-flops along the way.

I'll especially be glad to see him leave office to return to the family feed lot - though I suspect that now that he's got a taste for politics he'd become a Sacramento lobbyist instead of bulldozing manure around.  Once he's out of the picture, I can get on to other things.
