    . . . part of my optimism stems from the apparent fact - as evidenced by Kaine's victory in 2005 - that the RepubliCons can't cheat their way to victory in Virginia.  

    In virtually every other factor, I think our Democratic politics, and our ideas and our resources, are now highly competitive with the R's. The  only electoral arena in which we can't compete with the RepubliCons in '06, is in cheating.

    Which is OK.

    Because cheating is wrong.

    I'm not optimistic about Sherrod Brown's chances in Ohio,  no matter what the polls say. But places like Virginia and Montana there is traceable balloting with some integrity - I'm quite optimistic about our chances there.

    That's how we'll win in '06, a tidal wave that washes over any district where the Republicans can't cheat.
