    We can  allow gas prices to increase on their own, with all the profit going to the pockets of oil companies.  When gas gets too costly for the average driver, we'll have nothing to show for it.

    Or we can introduce a small gas tax (Energize America originally included a plan for one cent per gallon, increasing by one cent per month for ten years).  At the end of that time, we'll have paid for all other aspects of EA -- including plans to provide low income drivers with more efficient vehicles and greatly improve public transportation.  

    However, there was so much anti-gas tax reaction to previous itterations of the plan, that the gas tax was shoved into the "back up" procedures.  I don't agree, but then, this is a democratic plan (darn it).


    Theobromine -- does that come in chocolate?

      ...I see the logic, but it's just that regressive taxation is one of those "slippery slope"-"line drawn in the sand" mixed metaphor kinda dont go there zones for me.
