    wage in the blue states is any more livable than the Federal minimum wage in the red states?

      But what we have established is that minimum wage workers in some states have lost ground since the rates were last updated.

        Because that really isn't clear.  So the minimum wage in Massachusetts is $1.75 more than the Federal minimum, but the rise in CoL in Mass. since the Federal minimum was set could quite easily erase that additional amount.  The CoL in red states (especially rural ones) tends to be much more flat, meaning there is a possibility (and I would say a probability) that they have lost less ground than a worker in New York, even though the worker in New York is making more in actual dollars.  The raw dollar figures tell you nothing.
