Isn't that the way it has worked for awhile now?  The Republicans gain office, fuck everything up, and when the people get sick of it they elect Democrats, who clean up the mess.  At some point, hopefully, we can slip education spending in there (can you say bill number 1 for the 102nd?) and break the cycle.

      •  Part of that is already there (0+ / 0-)

Colleges (and HS, if IIRC) are required to have a Constitution day in September, where they take a day to teacht the Constitution.

I remember when it came up in a meeting about putting up announcements, since it was one of the first things that came up after our new system went live. Some of the comments were 'This is a federal law? Are they SURE they want students to find out about the Constitution? They might find themselves out of a job..."

And of course, it was rammed through by none other than our own Robert Byrd.

Maybe it will help. It certainly can't hurt.

...they always seem to find a way to rationalize blaming the mess on Dems and take credit for cleaning it up.  You'll hear no end of derision on the NeoCon side for Bill Clinton's fiscal policies, clearly out-of-control spending on "entitlement" programs.  But the fact that he left office with a surplus, why, that was entirely due to Republicans controlling the Senate and putting brakes on his wildly out-of-control spending.  And the fact that the Criminal in Chief's reign ushered in a new wave of ridiculous deficits?  Why, they were stuck with the bill left behind by those careless Democrats.

What a bunch of self-deluded losers, to swallow that line of tripe.  Surreal, actually.  Like Tommy's followers - "Put on the eyeshades, put in your earplugs, you know where to put the cork."
