I was 30-something at the time, and she was probably 130+.  Almost took us 2 lights to get across the street. And that whole Boy Scout "good turn" stuff came bubbling right to the surface.

how could I have missed trustworthy and loyal?
It was in there, just not where the rest of it was.

      •  trustworthy, loyal, clean, and reverent (0+ / 0-)

were the only ones i knew.  the first two were most important to me (and still are).  The last two were the end, so I knew those to make sure i could finish strongly.  If i had gotten any others it would have been a guess.

yes, and his patrol threw him in the shower.

I suspect he was worried about showering naked but didn't realise everybody wore bathing suits..

                  I remember this one trip...

I can't remember the name of the camp, but I know it wasn't PMI or Lenhoksin, it was the one where the Boy Scouts had to cook their own food.  Well long story short. All of the older scouts were away on a day trip, and all of the younger scouts and the adult leaders were going to go on a tubing trip down this river.  Well..so we got to this old abandoned warehouse place which was the starting point, and we waited there 3 hours, and nobody showed, finally we got a leader to hitchhike to the nearest camp, and he called the office, and they sent the tubing people over to wherre we were.  So we finally set off, at around like 5:30 pm, this was supposed to be a 3 hour trip.  Well anyways..the water was kind slow cuz it hadn't rained, and then to make it worse, the tubes...some of them deflated..and then it started getting dark...and we weren't anywhere near the exit..
So we got off of the river, walked a little ways, and we found a road, and walked to this like area where we would be safe on the shoulder.  So there we were 15 young scouts three adult leaders in just our pairs of swim trunks with a pile of tubes lying on the road next to us, huddled together cuz it had gotten cold, and we would occassionally see a car pass by..slow down...gawk at us..and then continue on..well finally the BSA truck drove past us, and he like slammed on his brakes, and was like..THANK GOD...we almost called the police...

HAHAHHAA..it was the most hilarious thing...
                  Needless to say though..we weren't happy campers..LITERALLY!!!

we were afraid of hepatitis and tetanus.  instead we just snuck down to the water for a quick bath.

          •  If you'd seen those showers ... (0+ / 0-)
you'd know why that kid would never use them.

I remember at scout camp not using the bathrooms for four days because they were so disgusting.
