  •  Sorry, you're right. My mindset is still back in (0+ / 0-)

the period when she was signalling she might vote for it.  But even her present (final?) position is unprincipled, like she wants to have her cake and eat it too.  She's a lawyer, and she knows how these attempts to regulate political expression can be vague and overbroad and chill political speech.

I am not in favor of any sort of flag burning legislation.  But it is possible to see that settling for making it illegal to burn the flag in a reckless manner, like in the middle of a crowd etc... might be seen as a good compromise.  I would be careful about deciding someone is unprincipaled.

She has been much more progressive than she is given credit for around here.  I just kind of get tired of they hyperbole.  I might not like her connection to the DLC or her apparent move to the right on some issues.  But she has always been a very principaled person.

I have a love/hate (well, love/disappointment) thing with Hillary.  One of the reasons I stopped being a lurker on Kos, signed up, and started participating, is that I am very disappointed in many elected Dems precisely because they, in my view, do not have principles.  People on Kos are the friends people like Hillary need -- someone to tell them when they go wrong.  Admittedly, people go overboard.

But Hillary is the main one I am upset with for that reason. IMHO, she is the reigning queen of triangulation (her husband virtually perfected it).  I used to cheer the Clintons, but their short-term tactics and victories have undermined us in the long term.

So, I have to disagree with your view that she is principled.  I want her to be, but I don't feel she is.
