    As long as this is true:

    my reading of history tells me that (in current terms) anyone trying to organize a drive in the south (or in waukeegan)to get people who don't have a photo id to get a photo id would be lynched, and that people who dared to help non-english speaking voters to navigate their way through the electoral system in english so that they can exercise their precious franchise would also be in fear oftheir lives.

    This can't be true:

    my ideal world is one where skin color is merely another aspect of individual human diversity.  where it is generally understood that terms like black community or hispanic community are regarded as literally non-sensical.  

    For some progressives, the answer to minorities is always unilateral disarmament.  They claim the REAL problem is not white racism, so much as the fact that minorities keep thinking about it (and consequently stick to themselves).  But that ignores the fact that there's a larger context of violence out there, and Franklin's old phrase about hanging together or hanging separately still rings true.
