      dumb of David Phelps, I seem to remember that Shimkus' was far more Republican than Johnson. I wonder how a Democrat got elected to a Southern Illinois District that didn't include springfield, St. Louis, or Rock Island.

        South eastern and the southern tip of Illinois leans Dem, but it leans pro- life.  Shimkus' district is heavily republican.

        Vote for the man mentality, but his district leaned dem.  David got over 50% in the most southern pieces of counties in '04.
