I used to have a customer who made regular visits to the D.R. for the "trade". He'd come in to buy gifts for the girls to take with him and tell me stories about his stays.

He was a complete creep and an out and out racist.

We were sitting in an open air bar drinking beer and there were fat American men with what looked like teenaged girls sitting on their laps on both sides of the bar.  One guy walked into one of the hotels with a young girl.  One of the girls approached us and we split.  It is really, really creepy.

I love vacationing in the other parts of the DR, but won't be back in Sosua any time soon.  A real shame because they have some good German restaurants in that area.

because, in my experience, the only ones creepier about sex than American ex-pats are the German ex-pats.

...10 monkeys typing on a 3 day weekend will give you a Dan Brown.

I lived in the Domincan Republic for three years while I was in the Peace Corps.  Sosua prositution is notoriouslly bad but it exists throughout the country.  We more likely was out east at Casa de Campo area though.  I've had discussions with many Domincans about prostition and I can see why he would like it becuase it could be done in a way that might not seem sordid to him.  No prices per act etc. These girls will just act like your girlfriend for a weekend.  I know people that didn't "realize" that they were with a prosititue.  Though his intentions were clear considering the supplies he had for the trip.

Ask not what your country can do for you....
