outside the Beltway and reality as it is perceived inside the Beltway grows wider w/ each passing day.  I really don't understand it sometimes.  I guess that, when no one from your family is serving in Iraq, and when you have top of the line health care provided by the taxpayers, it becomes easier to delude yourself into thinking that flag burning is an important issue.

It's also interesting to note that all of these professed "conservatives" want to muck up the Constitution to address a total non-issue.  The Constitution is supposed to address fundamental issues about the exercise of federal power, like, say, a WH that picks and chooses which laws it will and won't obey.  Since flag-burning occurs about as often as Cheney tells the truth, why should this issue rise to a Constitutional level?

Finally, it's amazing to note some of the Dems who participated in this travesty.  If a red-stater like Ben Nelson thinks he has to vote aye to cover himself for his next re-election campaign, so be it.  WTF is up w/ DiFi and Reid, however?  She's in a blue state, and he really can't be at risk for voting "nay."  Given the polls that uniformly show Bill Nelson destroying Cruella, he wasn't at risk, either.  I really don't understand it.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I see things that never were and ask why not?
