  •  Exactly. (5+ / 0-)

The key here, is that by leaving the party, Lieberman is hurting our candidates. They will try hard to put the blame on Lamont, but it was Lieberman's decision to leave the party, and it will be on his head if the results are harmful to Democrats across the state.

Yet another reason to donate to Ned and the rest of the CT Democrats.

Now, having screwed the Party (whose members basically called his bluff by ignoring his threats to run independent and supported Ned anyway), he hurts the party again no matter what happens in the Primary.

If somehow he wins the primary, he has now caused so much bad blood that turnout will be depressed.

Previously, Joe's place on the ballot has been irrelevent to progressives. He was going to win anyway so we voted for the people we liked, and either voted for him out of habit, voted for his opponent as a meaningless protest vote, or left it blank.

Now, I fear, a loss by Ned in the primary will be devastating to his supporters. I am a town committee person, but I can't imagine making phone calls and mentioning Joe's name.

All in all, just more reason to send in the bucks.

      •  or take legal action against lieberman and his (0+ / 0-)

staff.  If Lieberman is prepared to leave the party in the future, he should leave the party now.  What legal actions are being taken in CT to block the action?

    •  nope, the opposite is true - (0+ / 0-)

nope, the opposite is true -

when we throw joe out of the dem party on august 8, then the 3 CT dem house challengers (Courtney, Farrell, and Murphy) will all finally be free to all share & articulate a strong and clear anti-bush and anti-iraq-war message with lamont -

right now, the 3 CT dem house challengers have to fend off attacks from the right that "their man joe" says so-and-so about iraq -

for example, diane farrell is trying to put forth a very strong anti-iraq-war message, but the CT incumbent house repub chris shays badgers diane farrell with statements like:

shays: "my position on iraq is just like joe lieberman's position on iraq, and my opponent diane farrell supports joe lieberman" -

when joe is outta the dem party, joe will also be outta diane farrell's political life as well -

that is why nothing could be better than to get joementum and his compromising pro-bush and pro-iraq-war messages outta our dem party, like getting rid of the proverbial fly in the ointment -
