  •  I watched the C-SPAN segment (7+ / 0-)

I missed a few minutes but I think I came in with your call. You did an excellent job. I don't know if you watched the open phone segment a little bit after the Davis-Van deHeuvel segment, but it appears that Lanny Davis didn't win too many people to his side. Most of the people that called said that Lanny Davis was a hypocrite for saying that politics had become too mean-spirited etc and then called you anti-semitic and another guy a bigot. It was one of the better segments on C-SPAN I've seen in quite sometime.

I just wished that someone would have mentioned Joe's failures on oversight, esp in the Brownie confirmation. Lanny focused on JL's legislative record. But Senators have 2 jobs: 1)write/advocate legislation 2) provide oversight. JL's has failed to do his oversight job on a VARIETY of issues and that's why he's seeing this huge challenge from Ned Lamont...

    •  Thanks for the reminder (0+ / 0-)

I had forgotten about the Brown thing, though according to Media Matters, it's a story that's a bit more nuanced.

      •  That's not my problem with JL re: Brownie (2+ / 0-)

No, I'm talking about when JL headed up the Govt Reform Committee (or whatever it's called) when Brown was up for confirmation as the Deputy Director of FEMA and he didn't bother to ask ONE question about Brown's experience to run FEMA. It just seems really basic to me that JL couldn't have looked at Brown's resume and asked some questions about his role with the horseshows etc. That's basic oversight and JL FAILED to do his job even in that instance. That's one of the many reasons why I'm not supporting JL's re-election. People died from the Katrina hurricane needlessly and Joe L's failure to ask simple questions about Brownie's lack of experience to run FEMA was a factor in my mind that lead to those deaths... It's negligence in my book....

....contrast with the much more conservative Democrat Gene Taylor (D-MS). Now, admittedly, this is more personal for Taylor, but still, he ripped the Bush Crime Family and Heckuva Job Brownie a new one during those hearings.

    •  I'm reading Sirota's 'Hostile Takeover' (0+ / 0-)

right now.  He's devastating on Lieberman taking a dive on the oversight over Enron.
