(Blast. Now you've gone and made me break my no-inflammatory-language-today vow.)

Tailor, that's a filthy lie. I'm a 50-year-old lifelong Dem, the child and grandchild of lifelong Dems, the child and grandchild of Lakota and Obibway. I'm working to elect Democrats in Oregon and across this still-great nation.

I'll be damned if I'll let you, let alone the radical-right psychotics that inhabit the branches of the U.S. government, the Israeli government, Hezbollah (and others) that depend on continuing violence in the M.E. for their own selfish financial and political gain stand unchallenged.

I support a safe homeland for Jews in the M.E.  I reject your apparent call for  slavish carte blanche for the Israeli government. If you really think that success for the American Democratic Party can be built on a foundation of the Israeli bombing of innocent Lebanese civilians, I pity you. Wrong is wrong.

Sorry you feel that way.  American Jews have been at the forefront of virtually all civil rights activities in this country -- be it for African-Americans, native-Americans, gay rights, etc. -- and as such are prominent members and supporters of the Democratic Party.  My point was that a major core group of financial and organizational support of our Party comes from Jewish people and if we want to oust Republicans from power, we could do worse than listen to the positions taken on Israel by prominent American Jewish Democrats.

African Americans were in the forefront of the civil rights movement.

Secondly, I'm not willing to sacrifice my principles to win elections.  I haven't yet reached that level of cynicism.  If Democrats lose, it's because they have yet to take advantage of a weakened Bush administration.
