  •  please explain this statement from your website (4+ / 0-)

"I stand firmly with the people of Israel and their government as they defend themselves against these outrageous attacks."

you have a lot of progressive fans at dkos who i'm sure would love to hear you elaborate on your unqualified support of israel's bombardment of civilians and infrastructure in lebanon.

or have you ammended that statement since it was released?

...plenty of progressive people at dKos who recognize the complex nature of U.S.-Israeli relations and take great care not to disqualify or villify one of our bravest and best leaders by virtue of his stance on one issue.

However, like you, the force of Senator Feingold's statement caught me by surprise, and I am curious to know what line Israel would have to cross in terms of disproportional response to change his tune.

    •  I would hope he elaborates on that as well (0+ / 0-)

However you might want to quote the entire thing to show the full statment:

“I stand firmly with the people of Israel and their government as they defend themselves against these outrageous attacks. The kidnapping of Israeli soldiers and missile attacks against Israeli citizens are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. The first steps toward establishing peace must begin with the unconditional and immediate return of the kidnapped Israeli soldiers. Lebanon, Syria, Iran and countries throughout the region must also condemn the actions of Hezbollah, Hamas, and other groups committed to blocking the peace process and must take strong actions to return stability to the region immediately.”

      cheers,

Republicans believe in training Al-Qaeda, but not in training American workers.
