    ...plenty of progressive people at dKos who recognize the complex nature of U.S.-Israeli relations and take great care not to disqualify or villify one of our bravest and best leaders by virtue of his stance on one issue.

    However, like you, the force of Senator Feingold's statement caught me by surprise, and I am curious to know what line Israel would have to cross in terms of disproportional response to change his tune.

      I would hope that Senator Feingold takes the chance to expand and explain his statement since it is indeed a complex situation and the broadstroke statement seems a bit off-kilter to my eyes.

      If you'd just added "I deplore civilian deaths,  and I hope and trust that Israel will do everything in its power to avoid causing them," we wouldn't need to ask this question.
