I know a number of self-described straight young folks here in Sacramento, older teens and young twenty-somethings, and I don't know any of them who aren't pro-gay rights, pro-same sex marriage, and vociferously anti-bully: antibully to the point where I can say confidently that I know their first, automatic response would be to step in and defend a victim, no second thoughts about it. I can't quite figure out the common denominator among them--their high schools are unremarkable in this regard and likewise their parents, sad to say. They're just smart and kindhearted kids by nature and they're really tired of stories like these.

I've heard a couple big studies (talked about on AAR and possibly covered here as well) concluded that young people in general are becoming less and less homophobic, and (unsurprisingly) in a preponderance of blue states a growing number of them today never were: there was little to overcome or be reeducated about; gay was 'normal' from the start.

    God bless our tinfoil hearts.

...that we have already won the fight.  It will take about a generation is all.  The other side knows that as well.  This clock will not be turned back.  But we all know about sore losers.  What we are seeing from the other side is simply revenge now.  It's the viciousness of a mortally-wounded beast.
