is a wingnut, the most dangerour kind, why, because the popular opinion is that he is a moderate and can be trusted to do the right thing.

He wants to be president and will do and say anything to attain that position, he cannot be trusted, and please lets refrain from getting caught up in the war hero nonsense, he was a pow, nothing more nothing less, his decisions as a politician prove he is no hero.
    PEACE!

    •  Yes and a hypocrite to boot. (0+ / 0-)

And McCain is not all that religious and certainly not a fundie, but he will pretend to be...to get the nomination. He will kiss up to any wingnut group for votes. McCain suddenly becoming religious at his age reeks of him drinking from the fountain of Rove.

The rocket struck McCain's A-4E Skyhawk as it was preparing for launch. The impact ruptured the aircraft's fuel tank. Leaking fuel ignited, knocking two bombs loose. McCain escaped from his jet by climbing out of the cockpit, walking down to the nose of the plane, and jumping off the nose boom onto the burning deck. Ninety seconds after the impact, the bomb exploded underneath the airplane. McCain was struck in the legs and chest by shrapnel. The ensuing fire killed 134 sailors, destroyed 20 aircraft and threatened to sink the ship.[1] Film shot aboard the Forrestal shows McCain narrowly escaping the explosion.

After the Forrestal incident, McCain volunteered to join the VA-163 Saints on board the Oriskany, which was short-handed after a separate deck incident on that ship. The Saints squadron and its parent Air Wing 16 suffered the highest loss rate of any Navy Flying unit during the entire Vietnam War.

    •  Thank you (0+ / 0-)

McCain is reprehensible...  He tries to appear to be all things to all people, but should really be seen as a hollow shell who stands for one thing:  more power for John McCain.  The fundies are right to distrust him, as are progressives.

I frankly have more admiration for somebody like Brownback who is fundie/wingnutty, but actually sincerely believes what he's saying when he puts up his posters of talking embryos during Senate debates.

Yes, McCain has drifted a little to the right in order to try and get the Republican nomination. If, and I stress if, we have to deal with another Republican administration, McCain might not be all too bad (at least compared to other Republicans). He voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment, he's an advocate of campaign finance reform, and he is strongly against allowing the Bush administration's policy to let the CIA torture prisoners.

He might not be the perfect candidate, but he would be a heck of a lot better than most other Republicans.

      •  he is quite the War Hawk however (0+ / 0-)

and I imagine those living In Poverty would continue to live in despair as McCain cut more and more funding for social services and other programs that help the needy. After all, he is a Republican who would still back the GOP Agenda.
And McCain cannot be trusted not to bow to the Neo Con agenda when pressured.

Is he better than Bush? Well a Rat on a Sinking Ship is better than Bush...so who knows about that...

      •  He hasn't drifted to the right. (0+ / 0-)

His voting record, outside of corporate subsidies, has always been very solidly right wing.
