101 in Southern Ca today and thunderstorms in mid-July. I've been here for 25 years and don't remember weather like this at this time. Normally, we're dying to see a few clouds and rain but have to wait until Nov.

watch a weather program from Norther California, and your fears will be soothed

the Sierra Nevada Mountains are a massive weather factory (they create their own weather), and thunder storms are quite common in the high Sierras during July

thanks to wierd convection patterns, the Sierra thunder storms are often pushed back into the valley, and sometimes the thunder storms are pushed as far south as LA (we had thunder storms and rain in the Valley about three days back)

and btw, you're complaining about 101 degrees ???

it was 110 degrees in the Valley today (350 miles north of you), and we ain't complaining that much ...

It's kinda like what Lee Marvin said in "Paint Your Wagon", Welcome to Hell, preacher

Hey, did I call that Blackout or what ??

My Bat senses are scary.  Many times I scared myself: "oh, crap.  How did I know that..?"

I live in the heart of the delta (about 100 feet from the Pacific ocean, in a way) we get breezes that Redding can only dream about

and no, we don't really get much of a humidity problem around here (mostly around 40%)

I've been told that 90 degrees with 90% humidity is worse than 100 degrees and 40% humidity, but I have no way of proving it

I can handle the heat up to about 105 degrees (I was working outside on thursday in 109 degree heat for about an hour)

I'm a Mets fan cuz I hate the SF Giants (like all good Oakland A's fans do)

and fyi, Redding sucks, but it's WAAAAAY better than Bakersfield. So you could say hell is 300 miles north or south from where I live. You can find Heaven by traveling half that distance east or west from where I live, so it evens out in the end
