  •  They thought the Liberty... (6+ / 0-)

A fucking US NAVY SHIP... was aiding their enemy?

    That's so incredibly threadbare....

There's a simpler analysis.  The military wanted to operate without observation--maybe to not be seen doing somehting they didn't want seen (ever), or maybe they wanted absolute operational invisibility (fear that the knowledge shipped back from the Liberty would end up being passed on... somehow...).

But that's not justification.  If that's what they felt, they could have told the US "get it out of there because this is a war zone, or something bad might happen...".

What they did was an act of war.  They applied the ONLY excuse that could cover it.  Accident. Repeated accident.  Over and over.  Ooopsie.

    Lie.

But the US didn't want to deal with Israel on that basis, so the government sucked it up, pretended they believed it--and screwed the guys who got hit.

but no more unless they want to come after everyone of us.

Half a trillion dollars to elect a man in Iraq that congress won't talk with because they don't like what he thinks of Israel...
