  •  This incident is one of the clearest examples (0+ / 0-)

Of the extreme selfishness and partisanship conservatives have thrust upon this country. They PROBABLY consider it a political victory, though I doubt they have the courage to say that out of fear of political consequences. They trumpet political courage and steadfastness, but those claims don't stand scrutiny.

I am very glad you did not lose your life in defiance on that bridge, Leo, but your courage and commitment are so inspirational, they bring tears to my eyes. I, too, would like nothing more than to see indictments returned against those law officers. Certainly they should be relieved of duty. What would have happened had one of those turned away been a resident of Jefferson Parrish? So that "one of their own" had been among those turned away? You cannot detect a person's residency by looking at him or her. The officers turning people away DIDN'T care. The hell with them - they're on their own. We know the attitude - all too well.

I loved the first responders in NY on and after 9/11. But those in Jefferson Parrish failed the test in equally clear ways, in the face of similar tragedy.
