    but directionally correct.

Heavy fuel will have all the nasties from crude in it.  And worse as it can contain the unconverted residue from cat crackers or other conversion equipment.  So not really benzene but large polycyclic molecules that are MORE carcinogenic than benzene.  But it might not be that bad depending on what the blender used to make it.  Med had a surplus of resid components back in the day so might be a little better than the same sort of fuel sourced in the USGulf.

ANS crude has about 33% gasoline and diesel in it coming out of the ground.  Those molecules naturally evaporate away.  This shit only has a few % diluent in it to cut its viscosity enough such that it will flow without heating.  So getting rid of it will be a real mess.

    •  oh crap, I quoted it in other comments too. (0+ / 0-)

I was on a bit of a rampage..

Thank you so much for the clarifiction/correction/information. I did try to research what exact compound or mix of stuff would have been involved, but didn't get very far.

So you're saying that the "fuel for power stations" is heavy fuel? Just want to make sure I have the basics in order.

      Cat crackers??
