If that oil had been burned in cars and by industry, the resulting pollutants would have spread far and wide, and the greenhouse gases would have helped accelerate global warming.

Bill McKibben, a great environmentalist/writer, once calculated that the oil from the Exxon-Valdez spill would have caused far more damage if it had been taken through the usual fuel cycle. always turns out that no one is in charge of the things that really matter.--Deborah Eisenberg, Twilight of the Superheroes

      That Lebanese oil is better
lieing on the beach than hanging
      in the air.

Los Angeles has two weeks in the
      pipeline and then outages/shortages
      and $5 gasoline.

The Timeline has thus been accellerated.

The American people will never be told about
PeakOil. And so Total War is the only option

Tactical nukes are being prepared for imminent use, increasing the probability of a full-scale regional conflagaration.

BTW-I notice that the new Israeli Commanders
      have decidely Germanic names.

      Talk about coming Full Circle.

but we would still be better off if it had been left in the bowels of the earth in the first place.
