  •  I am a partner in a law firm that focuses on... (6+ / 0-)

the representation of design professionals.  I have 2 kids in Catholic school, plus a mortgage and 2 car payments.  I love baseball and Notre Dame football.  I need this site to help me maintain my sanity.

One almost has to lead a double life in these times.  One has to go to work, pay one's taxes, monitor one's children, and do all of the other things of "normal" life while knowing that one lives in a society that has largely lost its moral bearings.  It's accepted that we have a painfully ignorant prez, a VP who shoots first and asks questions later both in his personal life and his foreign policy, and we have a Congress that is an auction house for special interest $.

It's amazing now to think about how many things I'd never heard of 6 years ago.  I hadn't heard of "signing statements," or "extraordinary rendition," or "Abu Ghraib," or "electronic surveillance," or "the unitary executive," or "the axis of evil," or "Islamofascism," or "weapons of mass destruction," or Jack Abramoff.  I didn't know that such things would come to widely be accepted as a part of our national life.

To quote Bob Seger, I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I see things that never were and ask why not?
