  •  Many British MPs are that Good (6+ / 0-)

This is a post I had made earlier:

[...]British politics has a long and very, very colorful history of adversarial government that goes all the way back to Cromwell. I have a very hard time ever imagining one bloc getting the kind of power currently being squandered by the GOP.

If you want REAL entertainment, check out Parliament in session. My favorite is the Prime Minister's Questions. How long you think ol' Dubya would last, even with a wire?

I can't stress enough that the value of a true adversarial system, in which the opposition is actually given a place of true power in the government, plus the basic premise of Head of Government vs. Head of State is incalculable. True the system seems more complex, and they don't get guys acting like studly cowboys.

However, they get the world's best debaters. Pretty much any British MP worth their salt could destroy any US politician.

That being said, Galloway is one of the best at this stuff, but he's not a particularly nice chap, and I would not want him representing me.
