  •  Decriminalization does not equal meth promotion (12+ / 0-)

Well, I think any hope of not becoming 'part of the story' sort of vanished with the second mailing.  Kline's mailers made me a story, not this blog post.

Kline's flier suggests, without directly saying so, that I think meth use is A-Okay.  On the contrary, I believe that like bathtub gin during prohibition, meth is a product of the criminalization of drugs, and so supporting decriminalization is the exact oppostie of promoting meth use.

I don't support meth use.  No sane person does.  That's what makes it a smear.

You have to remember the logical framework around which the neo-Con, Rethugnicans operate:  the white lie sells, and the more sensationalistic, the better.  Since one of the Right's Wrong's strawmen is Meth (and the rest of the ill-conceived and poorly executed "War on Drugs"), Mr. Kline is trying to make the disingenuous linkage between Meth and Ms. Rowley, you and your situation just happen to be the way to use the non-sequitur to slander the character of his opponent.

Surely I'm not alone is finding your arguments here strain the bounds of logic.

Why not take responsibility for the ramifications of your beliefs? If you feel so strongly that crystal meth is no different from homemade grain alcohol and you see no social, moral, or legal benefit to making its production illegal, you're going to have to live with some people assuming you also see no social, moral, or legal reason for prohibiting its use. Like it or not, that is a fringe position with which everyone but a small minority of social libertarians disagrees.
