    Winning all the seats where we can plausibly--at this time--squeak a progressive openly into Congress will leave us... a minority.

    So now we have to go and start finding moderates with progressive leanings who can be worked with--particularly if they see that they can get some coverage, money and buzz from us.

    Grant looks like that.  And he looks like that in a place where we'd normally assume that the GOP could slam-dunk a major asshole into office--as they did, with Sali.  So there's a big win in political terms here:

    Major embarrassment to the GOP, losing what ought to be a solid "base" seat.  That kind of thing has ramifications....

    Loss of a solid wingnut vote (that's a big shift leftward there).

    Gain of a moderate vote--not even a conservative Dem vote.  Grant's pro-choice and talks about a living wage.  Dear god, do you need this gift wrapped, too?

    We need these kinds of seats in order to get a majority.  I'm supporting a majority, not just the largest possible minority of pure, righteous progressives.
