all that hard to believe (although I find it unlikely).  I'm the only Democrat in my family.

      that she wasn't involved...

but it is hard to believe she didn't know if they were deeply into it and weren't highly secretive

    •  Did you not know that your family were (0+ / 0-)

Republicans when you were growing up?  I am not being snarky - just curious if that is what you mean.

The one thing about the KKK / White Supremacist types is that they do not withhold their views especially not with family.  The whole point of White Power is to indoctrinate all white people to stick together and exclude all other races.

Women are particularly targeted because sexual relations with a person of color and the possibility of a mixed child really screws up that racial purity objective.  So it is really, really, really hard to believe that she did not know or to some extent participate.

It wouldn't be hard to believe that she rejected the philosophy at some point in her life, but she didn't say that.  She said she didn't know at all about her parents and brother participating in these racial purity hate groups - which means that she is probably lying.  By saying she didn't know instead of denouncing the hate groups she is trying to hold on to the support from the White Supremacist crowd - you see if she denounced them publicly she would be seen as a traitor.  To me it means that she is very familiar with the people who hold these views.

As for knowing my that family were Republicans when I was young, hell, I live in SW Ohio.  I thought that was all there was.  It probably goes a long way toward explaining why I never have felt I fit in around here.
