  •  Beautiful diary (6+ / 0-)

Their ancestors make up the very soil of these cities and towns, and speak to them through their traditions.  Seafood rodeos, the Phae doe-doe, the Krewes of Mardis Gras, Crab festivals, Church revivals, Gospel Choirs, Blues and Jazz festivals, the Coast has always thrown a good party, and there is no better way to celebrate the business of living.

This is what I try to tell people when they ask "why rebuild".  This is what I was trying to say in my own diary today where I tell the story of small town Mardi Gras in places like Mamou, Eunice and Gheens.  Other places people have never heard of.

    Excellent diary, lilorphant, excellent.
