    The graph doesn't say whether corporate profits or wages are up or down - it only indicates what percentage of the national income went to what category. Its about how wealth (income actually) is distributed, not about actual wages or profits.

    For example, if corporate profits fell, but wages were unchanged, the graph would still be down for profits but up for wages, because wages would have a larger share of a shrinking pie, even though they were stagnant. Similarly, if both rise, but one rises faster, the graph will show one rising and one falling.
