  •  Good for you (7+ / 0-)

I am in the midst of putting solar on my house for my future Prius - that I will modify to be a plug in next year.  Can't do it all at once, but I will be doing a lot over the next 12 months.

We all have to do what we can.

I am planning on putting stickers on mine, maybe like:

"I kicked Osama out of my gas tank, why don't you, too?"

"Solar Powered Car: Free from the oil industry"

"You can get 150 mpg too"

    or whatever.  We'll see.

says 'Excuse this gas guzzler, my other car uses biodiesel'.

You can see the little spot on the front of the car where youre SUPPOSED to plug it in...if we lived in Europe. Hopefully it will be available in the US before you get one, so that you dont have to void your warranty with modifications.

Someday I too shall have an off-the-grid compound of my very own.

That is the downfall of it.  But the voiding warranty thing is not supposed to be as bad as all that, as there is supposed to be a limit to what they can void.  I think that they can only void what you "mess with" - and the company that modifies the car will likely provide a reasonable warranty.

Even if not, I just cannot stand not doing something to really extend my milage.  I have the money, I have the knowledge, I have the eco-consciousness.  I can't not do it, even over something as serious as warranties.  I may be out there, but at least I can say I am doing my part to reduce my footprint.
