    He's an excellent and accessible writer, knowledgeable about science, and has a great commitment to the common good. I've recommended many of his writings to friends and they usually become fans, too.

    Thanks for this diary, Meteor Blades. This action does indeed take me back to earlier movements like civil rights and anti-nukes, when we were trying to combine grassroots organizing with the more visible marches.

    I got hooked on demonstrations as a teenager and have to admit I still get a lot of adrenaline from what a young friend calls "getting out in the streets and screaming!" But mass demonstrations depend on media coverage for effect and that's been shrinking. I think these smaller, more intensely focused local events may have more impact now.

    OK- gotta say it: power to the people, right on.
