I'm not sure if this relates to bin Laden's compound at Tarnak farm or when he was being shadowed (by Afghanis working for the CIA) while at a remote hunting camp. The former is related (in the paperback edition i have) beginning on page 526.

The hunting camp is the one that some sheikhs from Abu Dhabi & Dubai were at. Mr bin Laden was a guest of their's for some falconry. He was tracked there by a team, hired by the CIA, that was carrying GPS equipment, satellite beacons, etc. The decision not to go ahead seemed pretty obvious: killing the sheikhs would have caused more than a few problems for the State Department. Read from the bottom of page 446.

For the record, Mr Clarke was a strong proponent for striking hard and fast. So, his rebuttal to Limbaugh and the ABC film cannot be easily dismissed.

Interview with Steve Coll, author of Ghost Wars.

if i make them very tiny, may i have more letters for my sig?
